UW Whitewater Laurentide Hall

Whitewater, WI

Laurentide Hall (formerly Carlson Hall) is the new home for the College of Letters and Sciences and Student Success Center on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus. JSD provided professional civil engineering and surveying services for the new building.

Civil engineering and landscape architecture services included a conceptual grading & erosion control plan, design development, construction documents, LEED coordination, bidding assistance, landscape plan, and construction administration on this multi-phase project.

JSD also worked with several contractors on this project and supplied construction layout services for the two new parking lots, building, and site utilities. This involved laying out the initial grades for the north and south parking lots including the storm sewer and bioretention areas and staked the new retaining wall. JSD staked the curb and gutter for both lots and entry ways. This also included laying out the building by staking grid lines with offsets and elevations for the new building and the site utilities to include watermain, sanitary sewer and storm sewers, and the lighting standard bases for the parking lots.

The project incorporates sustainable design concepts with a goal of achieving LEED Gold Certification.
