Pioneer Park

JSD provided landscape architecture, civil engineering and surveying services to the Broadview Park District; as well as prepared the OSLAD Grant submittal for Pioneer Park, which is funded through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The Park District was awarded the funds in 2021 to redevelop the site.

As a part of the design process, the JSD team held public meetings to elicit comments and suggestions from community groups and neighbors to understand their needs before developing the vision for the park. The community input was incorporated into the final design for this 2.9-acre park located in a dense residential neighborhood in Broadview, Illinois. The park is ADA accessible and includes a reconstructed baseball field, scoreboard, updated basketball court, spectator and player seating areas, play apparatus for children ages 2 to 12-years, trampoline, native plantings, landscaping, and an interior network of paths that facilitate access throughout the park. In addition, JSD prepared the MWRD permitting documents.

The improvements to the park provide needed open space improvements for a highly utilized baseball/softball field and neighborhood park.
