Prairie Ridge Health

Prairie Ridge Health (formerly Columbus Community Hospital) was founded in 1907 with additions and new construction in 1921, followed by a new three-story building in 1928 and a new wing dedicated in 1959. Through the years, the hospital has seen several renovations and additions and in 2014, broke ground for a two-story surgical center addition on the southwest side of the hospital, including a 25-bed acute care wing.

JSD provided professional engineering and construction administration services for this wing, working with the client to provide necessary support and submittal materials for the City of Columbus site plan review and approval process. JSD prepared preliminary construction plans based on site plans from the Architect and worked with the appropriate reviewing/approving agencies to identify design requirements, constraints, and conflicts specific to the proposed site. Lastly, JSD provided a final site plan, grading and erosion control plan, utility plan, and landscape plan. Construction administration services included review of testing reports and contractor submittals, RFI clarifications, and construction bulletins. Onsite representation was provided for site visits and final inspection.

This project received the Associated General Contractors (AGC) 2016 BUILD Wisconsin Award. AGC of Wisconsin is the leading professional trade association for the commercial construction industry in Wisconsin.
