Minimum Required
Education
- Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related field is preferred.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.), Landscape Architect, or Professional Planner Preferred
Experience
- Minimum 10+ years of proven experience in a Development Services role with proven excellence in time management, maintaining deadlines and a track record of responsible leadership in the team.
Position Description
Supervise the design and preparation of engineering, survey, landscape, and due diligence documents for projects throughout a wide range of markets, including review of plans for the multi-disciplines in the design package, contract management, and project profitability for all JSD disciplines. The person in this position serves as a Project Manager, technical specialist, staff advisor and client consultant as well as leading and mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities
Client Management
- Acting as Quality Control of client deliverables in a timely and efficient manner for projects under his/her management.
- Prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines and team member workloads.
- Efficiently executing contract, billing, and collection process for projects under his/her management.
- Developing and maintaining an effective working knowledge of state, county, and municipal land development procedures and regulations.
- Serving as a representative of the firm at both public & private meetings and presentations relative to assigned projects (i.e. plan commission, common council, board & agencies).
- Requiring extensive US travel via airline and rental vehicle to meet client and project expectations.
Marketing
- Marketing the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.
- Preparing proposals for potential projects.
Training Responsibilities
- Communicating between departments to schedule work and establish project priorities and maintain JSD standards.
- Mentoring and developing junior team members.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of development processes.
Required Capabilities
Must display a consistent
- Work independently and be available to respond to clients on an as-needed basis.
- Strong ability to research and clearly and concisely summarize site opportunities and constraints in written report format.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, Smartsheets and project management tools.
- High degree attention to detail, time and task management, and organization.
- Effective and professional communication skills on multiple platforms including: in-person, phone, email, Teams, and in meetings.
- Ability to multi-task on concurrent responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work occasional extended hours as required to meet client, project and/or business demands.

- Consistently meet staff position utilization targets, project deadlines and deliverables.
- Is able to successfully fully manage a national client account.
Essential Functions of Position
- 6-8 hours a day on the computer.
- High degree attention to detail.

- Must be able to legally.
- Must be able to safely drive a vehicle for meetings and site visits, occasionally for long distances.
- Physically able to meet OSHA regulations for being on an active construction site for site visits to active projects.
- Standing, walking, bending, squatting multiple times a day for up to 8 hours.
