The Valor on Washington is the largest veteran housing development of its kind in Madison. It is located on Madison’s East Washington Avenue with a stunning view of the state’s Capital. The six-story housing project offers 59 affordable two- and three-bedroom apartment homes for veterans and their families. In addition, 10 apartment homes have been set aside for households where one or more individuals have a physical, developmental or mental disability.

JSD was thrilled to be part of the design team for this residential facility, as we took the lead on civil engineering, landscape architecture and construction services. Our team designed a streetscape connection with terracing, patio landscape, and building connections working directly with the City of Madison planning and engineering staff.

A nonprofit support organization for veterans will occupy space on the first floor of the building, while Lutheran Social Services will provide supportive services for all tenants. The building also includes a coffee shop, children’s area and fitness room. JSD was honored to play a role in such a worthy development for support of our veterans.
