What began as a brief email and simple idea–to refresh garden boxes and update the existing gazebo–quickly evolved into reimagining an entire outdoor space for Unity Point Health Meriter-Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

JSD’s Landscape Architects proudly led the design process, starting with a collaborative visioning session alongside the Client to fully understand the goals for this therapeutic outdoor space. From there, our team brought the vision to life through detailed illustrations and imagery highlighting the proposed enhancements. Key design elements include new shade structures, a revitalized gazebo, acrylic coating for the sport court, and the addition of a serene orchard area. The plans also feature healing and wellness-focused gardens, along with a new production garden designed to offer both therapeutic benefits and practical use.

What started as a simple idea is quickly evolving into a monumental space for these children! We’re excited to share more updates as construction moves forward and look forward to celebrating the grand opening this Fall!
