Longmeadow Park
Mundelein, IL

JSD provided landscape architecture, civil engineering and surveying services to the Mundelein Park & Recreation District; as well as prepared the OSLAD Grant submittal for Longmeadow Park, which is funded through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The Park District was awarded the funds in 2023 to redevelop the site.
As a part of the design process, the JSD team held public meetings to elicit comments and suggestions from community groups and neighbors to understand their needs before developing the vision for the park. The park is ADA accessible and includes a half-court basketball, player seating area, play apparatus for children ages 2 to 12-years, sand play, GAGA ball, fishing station, woodland walking path with interpretive signs, native plantings, and an updated interior network of trails that facilitate access throughout the park.
The improvements to the park provide needed open space improvements for a highly utilized neighborhood park.
Our landscape architecture team also developed the construction documents, led the bidding process and provided contract administration, construction observation, and grant administration.
