Green County Health & Human Services

Monroe, WI

Green County’s $13.5 million Health and Human Services building sits on 11.5 acres of rolling topography. The department provides information, referral, support and assistance to county residents experiencing economic hardship, neglect, abuse, juvenile crime, substance abuse, mental health issues, or incapacities related to aging or disabling conditions.

The project was a major accomplishment for JSD’s survey, site design, civil engineering and landscape architecture team. The site’s 20-foot elevation change proved to be challenging, yet provided our designers the opportunity to manipulate this terrain to efficiently provide vehicle and pedestrian access to the site and building entrances. Stormwater management was handled on site by a water retention and detention system that lays gently upon the land. Through the preliminary design process, our team also recognized the need for significant off-site utility improvements including a 1,350-foot sanitary sewer run. Outdoor spaces were then enhanced by plants and materials that echo the rural beauty of Green County. JSD is very proud to have helped Green County create a site and building that truly serves and uplifts its residents.
