Minimum Required
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in civil or related engineering field or equivalent
Experience
Zero to 2 years of experience in civil engineering design
**Commercial, retail, and residential site development a plus
Responsibilities:
- Performs basic civil engineering tasks on project plans for both private and public sector work as assigned and overseen by project manager, supervisor, or project team leader.
- Assists engineering colleagues with tasks in the design of subdivisions, grading plans, earthwork volumes and storm drainage calculations, design of utilities, including storm and sanitary sewers, paving, watermain, waterlines, waterline sizing, and street improvements.
- Assist project team preparing quantity take-offs, bid tabs, and preparation of other project bidding documents.
- Conduct construction observation site visits and prepare site observation reports.
- Utilize Civil 3D Autodesk software, Stormwater Modeling software (HydroCAD,WinSLAMM, HEC-RAS), and company standard modeling/analysis spreadsheets to prepare project documents.
- Seeks technical information utilizing available company resources and peers to enhance knowledge of engineering design and when challenges are encountered and expected to be outside one’s own expertise.
- Communicates and collaborates with project team members, and others as appropriate to project and mentoring.
- Assist team with assembling plan sets, printing, plotting, and collating for deliverables.

- Basic knowledge of fundamental engineering practices.
- High degree attention to detail, time and task management, and organization.
- Effective and professional communication skills on multiple platforms including: in-person, phone, email, Teams, and in meetings.
- Ability to multi-task on concurrent responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work occasional extended hours as required to meet client, project and/or business demands.

- Demonstrates basic understanding of site development design principles including site layout, grading, erosion control, and utility design.
- Demonstrates a commitment to using JSD Standards in design work and voicing improvement ideas to better the product.
Essential Functions of Position:
- 6-8 hours a day on the computer.
- High degree attention to detail.
- High degree time and task management.
- Must be able to safely drive a vehicle for meetings and site visits, occasionally for long distances.
- Physically able to meet OSHA regulations for being on an active construction site for site visits to active projects.
- Standing, walking, bending, squatting multiple times a day for up to 8 hours.
