Beach Oak Park in La Grange is the only “passive” park in the Village, with no athletic courts or fields, and sits adjacent to the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad tracks. The park has a rich rail history and the district honors and preserves that history.

JSD developed the concept plan during the Comprehensive Master Plan process. Our landscape architects utilized input from the community to refine the concept, then prepared construction drawings, technical specifications, and permitting for the park redevelopment.

The park offers train themed play structures, including a look-out tower to watch trains on the Indiana Belt Harbor Railroad, a basketball court, story-walk signs showcasing the history of the trolley, a park shelter with solar light, and a checkers table and open lawn area for drop-in recreation and picnicking.
