Ballpark Commons

Franklin, WI

A former landfill, Ballpark Commons is now a mixed-use entertainment district that is beautifully anchored by a 4,000-seat baseball stadium, home to the Milwaukee Milkmen.

JSD is part of a comprehensive consulting team for the project, along with various architects, structural engineers, financial consultants and others. JSD’s specific role on the consulting team involves preliminary master planning, land surveying, wetland delineation and mitigation design, tree inventory, land use entitlement assistance and coordination, civil engineering, permitting and construction staking. With the site being a former landfill, JSD played a key role in pulling together a team of consultants to perform Phase 1 and 2 ESAs, geotechnical investigations, site and soils remediation, and landfill development in addition to reviewing/interpreting testing results, and making recommendations to the client on construction, site design, remediation, and engineering.

Encompassing approximately 200 acres of land surrounding the former Crystal Ridge Landfill, Ballpark Commons is Southeast Wisconsin’s newest entertainment, retail and residential community anchored around sports and entertainment! It includes a minor league baseball stadium, a year-round indoor sports facility, restaurants, retail, apartments, senior living facilities and outdoor playing fields. The project is the second phase of a development plan that began in 2012 with construction of outdoor playing fields, a BMX course, and a four-season umbrella bar.
