Artificial Intelligence (AI) has quickly proven to be a valuable tool across nearly every industry, including engineering and consulting. At JSD, we recognize the opportunity and responsibility that comes with adopting this technology and integrating it into our daily operations. With that, JSD’s  brand new AI Integration Team, made up of professionals from across all our disciplines, moved quickly this past winter. Not only did they set a recurring schedule of meetings, but they built out a survey for our entire staff, recognizing that everyone’s level of understanding or use of AI technology will differ and feedback would be crucial to moving forward.

As demands from clients and regulatory agencies continue to grow, our AI Integration Team understands it is essential to lead a coordinated, strategic approach to AI adoption in a way that aligns with our values and high standards by:

• Sharing knowledge, insights, and best practices across the firm
• Understanding limitations, risks, and professional responsibility considerations
• Establishing strong quality control standards
• Managing training, implementation, data security, and cost considerations

We have already begun carefully evaluating a range of AI platforms and tools. This includes identifying solutions that may enhance our workflows, as well as testing them for accuracy, reliability, and real-world effectiveness.

We are also assessing how these tools can support both technical and administrative tasks. This thoughtful evaluation process ensures that any technology we adopt meets the high standards our clients expect from JSD.

As we identify the right tools, we will begin rolling them out in phases. Some solutions may be tailored to specific departments, while others may benefit the firm as a whole. Because AI is evolving rapidly, this will be an ongoing process. Remaining a leading firm means continuously adapting to new technologies while staying grounded in our expertise and commitment to quality.

When applied appropriately, AI will help us streamline routine tasks, enhance accuracy, and free up our teams to focus on what matters most—sound engineering judgment, creative problem-solving, and delivering exceptional service to our clients.
